JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Director to lead our DevOps initiatives, focusing on automation, scalability, and AI-powered operations. This role will involve managing infrastructure, optimizing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring seamless software delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving operational excellence and innovation through AI integration while leading cross-functional teams to develop scalable, reliable, and efficient DevOps processes. This leadership role will report directly to the CTO and be pivotal in transforming our operations and cloud infrastructure strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy:
- Lead and mentor the DevOps team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure (GCP).
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to align on roadmaps, timelines, and key deliverables.
- Spearhead platform modernization and the migration from a hybrid, on-premise environment to a fully cloud-based infrastructure (GCP).
- Ensure security best practices are followed, supporting the compliance needs of the regulated food supply chain industries.
- Drive adoption of AI technologies to improve operational efficiency and automate incident detection and response.
- Establish and maintain monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices using industry best practices and AI-based tools.
CI/CD Expertise and Release Management:
- Own the release process, ensuring timely, predictable product launches.
- Design, build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI, driving best practices for testing, deployment, and version control.
- Collaborate with SW leads to design testing strategies that enhance developer velocity and minimize compatibility issues.
- Monitor system reliability and performance, identifying bottlenecks and driving data-driven improvements.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
- Advocate for and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools like Terraform or Ansible to manage infrastructure across development, integration, and production environments.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and cost-efficient cloud operations by optimizing resource usage.
Monitoring, Incident Management, and Continuous Improvement:
- Deploy AI-powered monitoring tools (e.g., DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) to detect performance bottlenecks and predict incidents.
- Lead post-incident reviews, identifying root causes and driving continuous improvement to reduce incident frequency and impact.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) plans and ensure compliance with security frameworks like SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with Technical Program Managers (TPMs) and component teams to align on roadmaps and remove delivery bottlenecks.
- Provide clear communication with stakeholders on testing, release status, and incident management.
- Foster a collaborative environment by sharing best practices across engineering teams and encouraging continuous learning.
What you’ll need:
- 10+ years of experience in DevOps, release management, or related roles with a proven track record of managing complex software delivery processes.
- Strong experience in CI/CD practices and tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or CircleCI.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks and release management methodologies.
- Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI/ML technologies to enhance DevOps workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying risks and mitigating them.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working across diverse geographically distributed teams (onshore/offshore) on global initiatives.
- Proven leadership abilities with a collaborative and inclusive management style.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- GCP, AWS certifications (e.g., Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, AWS DevOps Engineer).
- Experience with SRE practices and implementing SLAs across engineering teams.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and API management.
- Familiarity with AI/ML platforms (e.g., TensorFlow, Vertex AI) for predictive analytics.
- Experience in Supply Chain domains.
- Knowledge of security best practices for regulated industries (e.g., FSMA compliance).
