What is the Topco Traceability Initiative?
Topco and iTradeNetwork, the industry leader in perishables supply chain management technology, have teamed up to launch an innovative, new Traceability Initiative for our members that embraces our relentless pursuit of “far-reaching fresh.”
The goal of our Traceability Program is not to add another obstacle to your plate, but to remove the roadblock in your supply chains that put you at risk. Our Initiative will provide you with a smarter food safety solution that will allow you to:
- Easily adhere to regulatory requirements
- Protect your brands, and
- Topco’s collective customers’ health in the event of a recall.

Traceability Initiative Must-Haves
So what will be required of you as a supplier? Based on the Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) & GS1 Industry Standards, in order to comply with our Traceability Initiative, all loads shipped to a Topco member will be required to have the following:
- Pallet Labels with GS1-128 SSCC Barcode
- Harmonized PTI Case Labels with GS1-128 Barcode
- Palletized PTI Advance Ship Notice (EDI856)
